2. Feed-A-Bird

Although you won’t get to actually feed a raptor unless you become a SORCO volunteer, you can help with the cost of feeding them. We feed our Raptors; mice, rats and rabbits that are bred at the facility. Your donation of dog or cat food is always greatly appreciated! You can also donate game meat which is also fed to the raptors. We only feed the birds wild game meat, no beef, lamb or poultry. Please help feed the raptors by donating to SORCO game meat or fish.

If you have any questions as to whether or not the meat donation is acceptable, please call SORCO at 250 498 4251. Your financial donations also help with the cost of any medical attention they require.

Ambassador Raptors have each sustained injuries which prevent them from being released back into the wild. Housed at SORCO, each of the ambassador raptors has their own individual flight enclosure. They are trained to perch on the fist and be transported in carriers to the educational programs and events where they are the center focus of our programs.

3. Adopt-A-Raptor

The South Okanagan Rehab Centre for Owls (S.O.R.C.O.) encourages you to adopt a bird of prey. No, you will not receive a bird in your mail box!

Your financial contribution will, however, assist in covering part of the care & rehabilitation costs for injured birds so they can be released back into the wild.

You will receive a beautiful colour photograph of the bird of your choice on a certificate. Your support for this important cause is greatly appreciated. These make great environmental gifts for young & old alike. This program makes an excellent gift for Christmas or birthdays. Please help us make a difference.
